DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A ON LINE BIRTH RATE MONITORING INFORMATION SYSTEM A CASE STUDY OF UNITED NATION CHILDREN FUND (UNICEF). A  RESEARCH PROJECT MATERIAL ON COMPUTER SCIENCE

ABSTRACT

  This project is specially put together with the aim of monitoring infant and matality rate through the use of information system, it is believed that at the end of this work, its users would be able to know the importance involved in monitoring birth rate on every born child that is being born in the country, so as to enable the federal ministry of health through the United Nation Children Fund (UNICEF) to actually use effective major in its monitoring process.

In view of this, a careful study and understanding of this research will assist user to know actually that it is through this practice (birth rate monitoring information system ) that it generate quantitative data on the economic activities of children, so that the Nation’s economy is evenly spread and effectively utilized for planning on essential amenities distributed to every individual’s satisfactory.

The research will go further to explain the sources through which data are collected for the act; and also how the exercise enhance in knowing the birthrate of citizen existing in the country, with the work vested solely on the United Nation Children Enugu (UNICEF) and National Population Commission.

Recommendation on how best to organize and bring better birthrate monitored facilities in information system through online system to give more sophisticated approach at the end.

 

CHAPTER ONE

1.0       BACKGROUND OF STUDY

  In Enugu United Nations children fund (UNICEF) started in 1983 and “A” field office covers 10 states, The “A” field office is one of the four field offices of UNICEF in Nigeria, it was established in 1969 as a way of taking UNICEF and its programs closer to the people.

Some international organizations that worked with developing actions in operating and expanding early childhood service had gone along way I education and care of world’s children and parent these has gone a long way in monitoring the birthrate of children.

On the other hand, from about the three middle 1970’s there have been several types of evidence indicating growing awareness of Childs birth as a problem, this has gone a long way in monitoring birthrate in hospitals and health centres reduction in attitudes favourable to it in the global Network and the formulation of policies and law designed to curb it.
