ABSTRACT
The resolve to undertake this research topic “the contributions and accomplishment of chief ambassador Matthew Tawo Mbu 1929-2012” is underscored by the need to take a study of the life of most notable Nigerians, recognizing not only their birth, and early life but also how their live affected the society we live in both past and present. The study also examines the neglect of biographical history which has led to near absence of sustainable and viable historical consciousness. The aim of this research project is to establish the essence and relevance of biography to our past, present, and future. Using historical method, and also relying basically on primary and secondary sources, I was able to find historical based answers to the birth, and parentage of chief Matthew mbu, his social, religious, and education background, and basically the impact chief Matthew mbu made in every office he served, diplomatic, political, as well as other public offices. Using oral interview as a template I was also able gather individual perception of the man Matthew mbu. With the consciousness that man is prone to errors, the oral interview also aided in identifying what most individuals think was a short coming on the side of chief Matthew mbu. I view of the importance of the documentation of biography, this study recommends biographical study should be a compulsory subject in school curriculum, from nursery to tertiary institutions, so as to arm student with knowledge of our Hero’s past, and also legislation be made for compulsory documentation of biographies of certain categories of public servants. Ranging from presidents, senators, governors at least for the time.
