CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION:

Co-operation is as old as human society.  From time immemorial, man had relied on the existence of his fellows for existence and examples of working together.  Modern co-operative is however associated with the successful experiment of 28 weavers from Rochdale, England who in 1844 established the first successful co-operative consumers society.  Their success became widely acclaimed and their working principles were accepted as the basic principles of co-operative organization.

Earlier attempts to form co-operative failed because members were illiterate, dishonest and accounts were not kept.  Following the Rochdale principles, enabled the co-operative movement to avoid most of the evils of the era of industrial expansion.

Again, because the majority of the composition of membership had been people of low income, their contributions in the form of shares and thrift savings, special saving and other sources of income had been very low.  The view of this coupled with the de-emphasis of capital in the society i.e. the instituted low return on capital, the wealthy men with capital have technically been scared away.

Lastly, the system of accounting usually adopted by these bodies gives no room for proper management.  This is because information is hardly extracted from such records kept by them for planning and controlling of their operation.  I therefore wish to derive into the functions and functioning of the co-operative movement with particular emphasis on the accounting aspects of its management and then recommend on the practical and attainable application of its principles to ensure the achievements of the goal of the movement.

ABSTRACT

Capitalism is seen as an economic system or market economy was there is free allocation of market resources and free private participation in economic activities. The capitalist concept is manifested in the early 19th century, the period of industrial revolution. Since this period to the present date, capitalism has controlled the economic of some developed countries and the undeveloped ones, such countries include Europe, South Africa, America, Israel, Japan, and Nigeria. Despite the effort of the government to help these countries to regulate the excess of capitalism.    In the wake of the excesses of capitalism, which resulted, the suffering of the poor masses, co-operative emerged. The co-operative concept tends to oppose the capitalists mod of business practices. Co-operative is a movement, which aims at bringing better living to the poor by returning to them the best economic power and dignity of laboure. This they lost through the shrewd influence of capitalism. This research work was carried out in three commercial towns in Abia state. This piece of work analyses the opportunities that exist for the co-operative alongside with the threats existence of capitalism.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

There are different economic systems, which exist in the world economy. Among these systems, three types are prominent namely, Socialist, capitalist, Mixed Economic system. The socialist system is seen as a type of economy where all the activity and sector of the economy are controlled by the government. This implies that there is government ownership on every investment in the system. Today, socialism is giving in to other type of economic system in that most countries of the world that practice socialism are losing their holds in the economy of their respective country. The union of soviet socialist republic (U.S.S.R) is a good example of such dwindling socialist country.

Capitalism on the other hand is a reserve of what is obtainable in a socialist economy. This is because capitalism is seen as an economic system whose individual controls the economic activities of the country. It is characterized by an interplay of the market force , E.I. force of demand and supply, cut the throat competition and indiscriminate like in the price of goods and services.

INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The co-operatives is a very broad topic. It is found throughout the whole world. We found in capitalist countries, in socialist countries and sometimes, countries, which are regarded to have what we called mixed economy. They are found in the developing countries or third world countries.

The owed co-operative that has come tousled as an adjectival noun is from the verb to co-operate or the noun cooperation. The term co-operation can be used as a generic term covering a wild area of activity in which tow or more people join together whether formally or not formally on abhor on legally or illegally or socially accepted or unaccepted action to archive some aims. Su h action may be selfish in nature or by be the public good or in the interest of those performing the action without it being detrimental to any one else. It also use in narrower sense to mean activity undertaking by co-operatives and other self-help organization.

ABSTRACT

Communication has bee a growing area in modern computing through the use of network and efforts have been made towards evolving an efficient and quickest way of communication.

The essence of computer in this civilized and computer age can be over emphasized. it use is felt in the aviation where  rather is extensively  used. In military, communication services such as radio message and signaling are being employed. It is also being made use of in space travel; navigation and marine services, radio and television broadcast make use of communication system and also line-to-line communication.

For the purpose of this project three -way computer intercom system in a hotel to be precise, we would not over emphasize on the need of such communication system in a hotel room/environment.

CHAPTER ONE

Information and instructions are usually conveyed wither directly or indirectly by the chief executive or Via his messenger. However, this method of information dissemination has its demerits. It wastes time and sometimes, the messenger conveys incorrect information. To reduce the time wasting experienced in the above method, one then appreciates the need to design and simulate a system that will help to eliminate the loss of time during information delivery.

This transmission is known as inter communication usually abbreviated as “ intercom” . this refers to communication by means of transmission medium  between various individual situated at comparatively  distance within a certain premises. These locations are called  stations and this gave birth to the topic simulate a computer three way intercom system. This system. This system provides at lest three way communication via the computer  network  stations controlled by spftware. Hence the function of the of communication supervised by a package, to interface the computer//stations as intercom sets, enabling orders and instructions to be received and that they are clearly understood and fruitfully executed.

These intercom system are used in offices, factories workshop and for the purpose of this project, in hotel as to eliminate the necessity of conveying message through messengers from one guest/attendant to another ir vise vaster. These improve work and enable quick decision by the supervisory staff/executive.

The system, make use of these equipment to achieve its goals.

ABSTRACT

Handling of cargo has been a circular task all these while in our various ports.  And Nigerian Ports Authority (N.P.A) being an organization responsible for seeing to the affairs of our various sea ports in Nigeria, have worked endlessly to make sure cargoes are properly handled without much complain of damage or misplacement.

To ease the operation of cargo handling in our sea ports, researcher took up this study by critically understanding the work, procedure involved, analysis of the various steps and at the same time detecting problem in the present system and designing a new system that has solution to the problem of the existing system.

The new design is computerized and is subject to modification at any given time.  It also have this interaction feature and accurate in it’s output.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

Nigeria Ports Authority is a government owned organization under the supervision of the federal Ministry of transport with responsibility of providing specific ports and labor services for the country’s meantime industry.

One of their numerous duties and major functions is the provision of Cargo Handling Quays facilities. Right from the inception of this company, the billing system has been manually processed.  The port complex is in the early stage of computerization and the manual method of preparing customers’ bills are delayed.

A computer-based billing system is necessary for handling and preparing of accurate bills for customers.  The new system will facilitate the prompt preparation of bills, easy retrieval of information, security to vital information and resource sharing among the billing department.

1.1            BACKGROUND OF STUDY:

Once Port complex is located near Port Harcourt, Rivers State of Nigeria, the port is a natural port and was established about twenty years ago, firstly with the construction and commissioning of the Federal Lighter Terminal (FLT) in 1982 and later the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT) in 1996.

These two terminals handle lighter (smaller) vessels and ocean-going vessels respectively.  The average draught of FLT is about 5.7m while that of FOT is about 13.0m being the cheapest in the West and Central African sub-region.  In this regard, the FOT is envisaged to be attiacting more cargo ship and traffic not only as a transit but also as a transshipment center in the sub-region.  It however did not have any mechanical handling equipment for billing.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTERIZED PROCEDURE FOR PRIVATIZATION OF A CORPORATE ENTERPRISE (A CASE STUDY OF NITEL LTD ENUGU). A RESEARCH PROJECT MATERIAL ON COMPUTER SCIENCE

ABSTRACT

The focus on Privatization of Corporate enterprises is relatively recent in Nigeria.  The prominence in economic programs of most developing countries since the 1980’s is due to the need to reduce Public sector deficits and financial losses arising from gross inefficiencies of the public Enterprises.  Privatization attracts substantial amount of foreign investment inflows and new technological growth bringing about economic growth and reformation.

The effective implementation of privatization program of a Corporate Enterprise such as Nitel LTD requires a computer-based system.

This research work is aimed at designing and implementing an automated system that would eliminate some of the problem and draw backs associated with the manual procedures for the privatization of a corporate enterprise.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.0            BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Privatization involves redefining the role of the government by having at disengage from those activities which are best handled by the private sector, with the overall objective of achieving economic efficiency, conceptually, the commercialization and privatization degree (FRN, 1988) perceive privatization as :-

“the transfer of government owned shareholding in designated enterprises to the private shareholders, comprising individuals and corporate bodies”.

The success of the program depends on a well-designed privatization strategy, which includes:

1.                 Defining the broad extent of privatization;

2.                 Stating clearly the political, economic and social objective to be achieved;

3.                 Establishing clear guidelines or criteria for evaluations

4.                 Selecting techniques;

5.                 Ensuring transparency and accountability in the privatization process and which competitive bidding to the fullest extent possible;

6.                 Building marketing up frost in each privatization operation in order to stimulate potential interest among investors and their to enhance the value of the public enterprise to be privatized.

7.                 Promoting employee participation in the privatization process through the allocation of a proportion of corporate shares;

8.                 Establishing procedure for monitoring the progress all results of privatization etc;

The above strategies cannot be achieved manually; many privatization programs have suffered from poor design, in adequate preparation, and weak implementation.  This is clearly evidenced by the long average time its complete transaction.  It is based on these drawbacks that the need for computerization arise.

ABSTRACT

The clamout for justice and rights of man is an age long affair.  Social crusaders, philosophers, non governmental organization (NGOs) and thinkers of various persuasions, have devoted most of their effects to the promotion of monitoring and re-affirmation of faith in fundamental human right in the dignity and worth of the human person in equal right of nations large and small, and in fundamentals freedoms for all without distraction as to religious crisis, terrorisms, civil war etc.

In Nigeria today, all of use belong to one family mankind.  Everyone is born free.  Each of us is entitled to have rights, freedom and duties of different kinds, not withstanding.  Each of its has as responsibility to acknowledge, respect, promote, and protect6 those fundamental rights and freedoms for all others as justice demands infact human beings are endored wit h the faculty of convince and inner sense of right and wrong.  Thus the need for justice is man’s quest for happiness and good harmonious living.  A human who is deprived of any of these fundamental need is faced to live a sub-human existence, hence this work is a web-site designed to outline the information on human rights and people’s right as well as the abuses of there right between government and the populace in Nigeria.  A case study of National Human Right Development Commission (NHRDC).

CHAPTER ONE

1.0     INTRODUCTION

The word “right” is derived from the Latin word sector which in the noun form means that to which “person has just and valid claims, whether it be land, a thing or privilege of doing something or saving something.  We have what is called a legal right, which is either the liberty 9protected by law) of acting or abstaining from acting in a specific manner or the power (enforced by law) of compelling a specific person to do or abstain from doing a particular thing.  A legal right is thus the capacity sending in one man or a group of man or controlling with the assert and the assistance of the state the actions of others.  “Human” has been defined as pertaining to characteristics of or having the nature of mankind.

Morals and interest in any human being is simply because of his/her humanity.  The birth right of all mankind.  The expression “human right” in its wildest connotation embarrasses those civil, political, economic, social, cultural, group, solidarity and developmental right which we considered indispensable to meaningful human existence.

The Nigeria National Human Right Development Commission was created by a military decree promulgated by the Military Government of General Sani Abacha with the announcement of the latrest in a socials of programs for transaction from military to civilian rule (replacing the transition aborted by the annulment of June 12 1993 election) and was clearly designed as an attempt to head of off international critism of continued military rule in general and repressive policies of the Abacha’s government in particular.

ABSTRACT

The proper management and utilization of financial resources has over the years been the bed rock of growth, expansion and continual existence of the world most popular industries and business organizations. In contrast, the liquidation of once popular organizations is dependent on the allocation and improper utilization of financial resources used in the running of these organization.

However, due to the inadequacies and imperfection of human beings, a lot of problems such as misappropriation, misallocation and mismanagement of financial resources, using manual and mechanical method over the years has led to the collapse of many organizations.

This work is directed towards the computerization of the already existing financial management system used in monitoring the allocation and proper utilization of financial resources used in running of the organization by ensuring faster accurate and credible financial reports as well as identifying the various problems which are inherent and encountered in the manual and mechanical methods of determining the funds to be allocated to the various working areas, (departments) in accordance to the budgetary system.

Therefore the introduction of computer would be platform on which the actualization of the design and implementation of financial management system of the case study of this project work should be achieved.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0     INTRODUCTION

Financial management can be regarded as the process which ensures that financial resources are obtained economically and used efficiently and effectively in the accomplishment of the desired goals. These processes involve monitoring and analyzing public institutions financial conditions, general and special account, management budgetary procedures, financial statements and reports, payroll/income tax calculation and salary payments, and managing cash flow.

Price to the emergence and introduction of computer all these processes and activities were done manually. The expansion of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital UNTH, Enugu just like any other public institution, will not only intensity but also diversify the financial operations thereby making the activities increasingly difficult and wearisome. The volume of transaction has already increased to a level that requires automation.

ABSTRACT

In Nigeria today, it’s a well known fact that mathematics is one of the subjects that student find difficult to understand and pass for one reason or the other. The reason why student have this problem varies possible due to lack of good teachers and teaching styles of lectures and orientation. Some teachers might be good mathematician but might not know how to impact the knowledge on the students.

Another factor is orientation when the student are made of believe that mathematics is difficult, this how they take it.

Student need to be made to know that mathematics is one subject that we must practices because practices makes perfect, although there are also good teacher, while some students are sample lazy.

There is need for a computer software that can help out in some of the work, making the student to understand as long as the students are given values to work with, showing the working solution to understand mathematics better if not for anything but because it’s a computer.

INTRODUCTION

Men in search of comfort ability struggle to meet up with good career and for this to be achieved, it has to be stated as early as possible. Form time man is burn, he s being studied to know what likely he will be able to do as he grows up. This has to do with his natural behaviour and mental exercise display. This continues in the family parents and other relations acting as guidance and counseling unit. The child goes in tot school. In school the teacher takes over the guidance and counseling, it is a continuous exercise until one finds his feet, then he can continues from there and equally be in a position to guide and counsel others.

The stage where much work is carried out on guidance and counseling is in secondary schools. This is a stage when a child is grown to be able to understand maturely and when the Child’s attitude is fully studied in line with academic performance. In all secondary school across the country, there exist a guidance and counselor office where people knowledge in the area of psychology are employed in order to help advise the younger ones in school which way forward to their future career. These people through class visitation, observing students during recreation and calling on them at intervals for questioning, came to know the students better and be able to guide and counsel them in their future career probably in University or in any other area of life endeavour.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this project is to give a simplified approach to the procedures involved in the services offered by Insurance Companies. Since the insurance company or industry is an industry whereby the use of computer is most unpopular in the country.

The few computerized, Insurance companies are not totally computerized, but partially because, they believe human effort is highly needed and cannot be totally eliminated in the insurance companies world.

Since Insurance involve risk management, IE the conversion of risk to a fixed cost, which is calculated on the total risk involved, the need for computer cannot be over emphasized.

An effective management information system whereby data can be stored, accessed and retried when needed is very necessary in order to enhance quick services, and up-to-date management information and effective management decisions making process.

Due to time limit, this project work will be limited to the general business including all aspect of insurance.

The procedures involved in each aspect of insurance will be computerized.

INTRODUCTION

1.1      BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

In all sector of the society there are disasters which take may forms and no human being is immuned to them. There is no way of knowing who will have a loss or when a loss will happen. But at least some of the monetary casually can be met up by a group of people who come together to bear the risks of others. These people are known as “INSURANCE”.

Companies compensate for the financial losses suffered as a result of those risks of life. They do not stop the disasters or misfortunes from occurring but rather they suffer the offering of monetary compensation to the insurable victims.

This work is developed so that most of the work done manually in the insurance companies can be carried out using computers with the aim of achieving efficiency and accuracy in the operations of business and also to make the task insurance manager easier through providing them with management information within a short period of time.

In developed countries, insurance companies are the second larges users of computer but it’s use in the Nigerian insurance companies are comparatively very low. There are several areas of application of computers insurance companies.

ABSTRACT

The importance of financial accounting is gradually being recognized as germane to prudent management of any business firm.  This has necessitated the need for the computerization of structured operations of the financial managers structured operations are known with certainly for instance, the computation and decisions based on financial ratios.

This project therefore is a case study of Modotel Hotel.  It describes the computerization of the financial accounting of the hotel as packaged for its clients.  Thus this study gives detailed methods for the development of an optimal financial database for hotel industry as well as the software required for the computation and tabulation of different financial ratios.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

Finance is the life wire of any business organization.  It is required for the execution of production, sales and administration of a business operation.  As a discipline, finance is concerned with the acquisition and administration of the use of the firms’ funds as well as profit planning and control financial analysis is inevitable for the effective planning and control of any firm.

To effectively plan for the future, the financial manager should be able to assess the financial position of the firm and relates this to its confronting investment opportunities.  Since funds are scarce, financial analysis helps the financial manager to assess the returns on investment accruing from ploughing the firms’ assets and thereby efficiently allocating resources.

However, financial accounting is the employment of the firm’s balance sheet and income statement to establish some relationship between one figure and another in order to highlight the strengths and weakness of the concerned business.  The balance sheet of a firm is also called the financial position because it shows the position of the business in monetary term at a given point in time while the income statement show how the position depicted by the balance sheet has been attained.  The results of financial analysis are normally expressed as financial ratios, which could be broadly classified as liquidity, leverage, activity and profit ratio.  The suppliers of the firm’s funds and the investing public are usually interested in these ratios.  But the nature of interest expressed on the firm determines the ratios to be emphasized by each concerned parts.  This implies that different people emphasize on different ratios and as a result financial analysis means different thing to different people.

ABSTRACT

Considering the fact that our country is still developing, there are a lot to be done to improve the way information is processed in our licence wait before been attended to.

In view of this project work analyses the current procedure used in our motor licensing offices to issue licence to drivers renew expired licence legislation of vehicles and change of ownership of already registered motor vehicles.

The services of Uwani Motor licensing office can be enhanced by considering a computer based motor licensing information system taking advantage of computer networking computer speed, database, storage faculties telecommunication links, the retrieval of records without much interventions of the motor licensing office.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0              INTRODUCTION

The motor vehicle licensing office is one of the departments under the board of internal revenue which is the arm of the state ministry of finance. The  activities of the board are meant to generate revenue for the  government. The motor licensing department are located at each of the  local government area head quarters of the country.

The   motor licensing offices at the local government area of the state are under the motor licensing office of the state.  The daily transaction from   which these revenues are generated include the following:

Registration Of Vehicles: This include the registration of both new imported second handed vehicles popularly known as  (Tokumbo) and the ones bought from the government and its prostates.

After the registration an identification number is issued which is unique to the vehicle concerned. Such identification numbers serve as a mark to identify the origin of a particular motor.

For instance Anambra state is represented by (HOME FOR ALL) Abia is represented (GOD’S OWN STATE) Enugu with (Coal City) but this form of identification is above the scope of this project.

Issuance/ renewal of vehicle licences: licences are issued to newly registered cars. Also licence that has expired after the duration of six or twelve months are renewed.

After the renewal of licence badge is issued which is stocked on the car wind screen.

Change of ownership: This transaction affects only car, which has previously registered. That is cars which the initial owner has decided to dash out or sell to another person, in a situation like this registration of this vehicle will then be  updated with respect to police extract indicating justice to right full owner.

ABSTRACT

The computer as an electronic and electromagnetic device is known for its versatile range of uses in every area of human endeavour more especially in scientific and mathematical calculations.

Although little thought has been given to designing a complete and concise intelligence test on a computer system online in our present environment. However, in developed countries where computerized games and robot systems have been developed, computers have proved that they constitute ways of indirectly testing intelligence.

This project is designed in order to implement an intelligence test on a computer system online. It tries as much as possible to incorporates the advantageous aspect of intelligence on a wide scale. It is designed to test the intelligence of primary school leavers using the common entrance examination and first school leaving examination as a standardized sample, and as such the psychological implication of such a design is very relevant.

The design in the system is quite simple and easy to understand. Its flexibility make it amendable for future changes and amendment to either incorporate other aspects of intelligence or to be designed for any other school age or class.

The questions of this intelligence test are programmed and visuals displayed on computer systems screen in a very interactive form. The student answers the question on the computer system.

The results obtained from the test gives an estimate of user’s (pupil’s) intelligence quotient (IQ). This is equally displayed and tells the pupil in what category he/she falls within. The result of the test is also displayed at the end of the test which goes a long way to lessen the fears of pupil’s that they were market down in the examination.

ABSTRACT

This project contains a detailed analysis of the existing manual-based billing system of a Hospital of the penults Hospital Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State as a case study.

Base on the analysis, problem areas were identified and a computer based Medical billing system was designed and implement using the IBM compatible Micro-computer system, with colour monitor.

CHAPTER ONE

1.1              INTRODUCTION

Hospital is responsible for the supply of drugs to various inhabitants in zone at specific drug rates.  Form the inception of the hospital, billing has been manually processed.

The manual system employed is not very efficient, a lot of paper work has to be done, receipt, irrespective of patients, take a long period of time to prepare.  Due to the volummous number of drugs users, record of patients which serve as information for preparing managerial decision are very difficult to locate manually.

Therefore because of the problem and error arising from such a system, the computer based billing system because very invaluable.

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A COMPUTER BASED LIBRARY INDEXING SYSTEM. A RESEARCH PROJECT MATERIAL ON COMPUTER SCIENCE

 ABSTRACT

A library system is an information system that serves a population of users.  The term “Information system” is normally used in situations where an organization is considered as a whole with respect to its information requirement and information utilization.

In a library environment, “indexing has remained the means of text and document identification.  Comprehensively, indexing is a term, which is applied to many compilation and arrangement of text and documents which is either in alphabetical order, chronological or numerical order.

Igbinedion University Okada Library is a standard Library.  The computerization of a standard library is the use of computer system to implement its manually based operations.  However the introduction of computer systems with a view of proliferating information technology has gone a long way in extending its technological handshake to all spectrum of life.

Similarly, IMT Library is not left out.  This project is embarked to improve this limitation such as security, accuracy and reliability of inventory and speed of service et cetera.  The principal objective for this research work (project) is to identify a number of problems that are inherent with the use of manual method of indexing and cataloguing in IMT library.  Hence, proffer solutions to the identified problem through computerization alternative.

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Computerization in IMT Library is seen as a special effort of this project work.  However, computerized library indexing is a directed effort towards improving the existing system services and development of new services rather than just maintaining a “status quo”.

On the other hand, the introduction of computer systems as the height of computerization does jot only aim at replacing the manual method of library indexing and cataloguing system but equally aims at overturning all the inherent constraints that are associated with the use of manual system in IMT Library.

The cumbersome arrangement of text, document and other library materials which inhibits the speedy accessing of desired information and its solution requirements are the main focal point of this new system.  Similarly, the structure and format of the index in this project work includes such mattes as the arrangement of the entries, the physical layout and sizes and styles of types which should be planned to provide maximum ease in scanning and discriminating among individual entries.

 ABSTRACT

This work is specially put together not to replace medical doctors or medical laboratory scientists but rather to assist them in accelerating in their diagnostic work which will go a long way to eliminate the trial and error method of treatment  (which the doctors usually do while waiting for the lab result which would be detrimental to the patient.

In view of this, a careful study and understanding of this research will assist users, medial doctors & lab scientists.  It will educate them on now best a computer can aid medical diagnosis for optimum service to the public.

The project will go further to educate out lab scientists / doctors on the need to accumulated salient aspects of the medical know-how of even the most experienced specialist in the computer.  So as to eliminate the vacuum that would have been created when specialist dies or is in capacitate.

CHAPTER ONE

BACKGROUND OF STUDY

1.1            INTRODUCTION

Health is generally said to be wealth.  To acquire this wealth either for personal or national needs, one require to be healthy hence the need for adequate Medicare especially in the area of diagnosis.  Since there is a good relationship between the job output and the health of the workers, a good Medicare is vital.

Unfortunately, in most developing notions including Nigeria, adequate Medicare is lacking due to low standard of technologies know how and manual handling of most medical problem.  As observed by Iyiama H.C and Chukwu. D. C. very often, people in developing countries who are critically ill are rushed abroad for special treatment because it is felt that medical facilities at home is inadequate.  This is simply because at home is inadequate. This is simply because computer aided Medicare has become a reality in many developed countries.  It is also a known fact that the production of qualified medical doctors, medical lab. Scientists and other medical personnel is on the increase but this is not enough to meet the health needs of the increasing population.  The return of patients to a doctors, samples to lab scientist is still high.  This situation creates problem, because proper and adequate medical attention to patients is far fetched.

ABSTRACT

In our present society, communication is more or less the “cannot – do – without” that people always say and the strength of every successful business generally.

The impact of this can be felt in the life of individuals, homes and government establishment, without adequate communication network every activity is useless (paralyzed).countries all over the world has communication industry whose duty it is to acquire communication lines and distribute it equally among the populace of the nation. Most companies need great strength or determination to make it work.  In Nigeria the button for communication distribution network is given to Nigeria Telecommunication limited (NITEL)

This project work research into the procedure and criteria involved in the telephone line allocation in inhabitants of Enugu by Nitel. In Nigeria today NITEL is having a very big problem with lines allocation due to the fact that it is speculated that lines available to NITEL cannot comfortably go round the country. In the process of this research it was found out that the real problem NITEL is facing were made in the problem, which at the end resulted in the arrival of solution to the problem. A new computerized design, which will always use the available lines at any time to equitably meet the demand of telephone line subscribers in the country; this computerized design is more accurate, reliable even easy to use and comparatively cheap

CHAPTER ONE

1.0     INTRODUCTION

Communication is so important to the world’s activities. People who are separated by distances can effectively and conveniently reach one another to do business together through communication. This is therefore very necessary that every government provided enough and adequate communication for it’s citizens so that they will have a sense of belonging in the Global world.

The so-called western countries are where they are today because they realized the importance of communication and followed it up with better (good) approach. The major problems in the so-called under developed countries are their nonchalant effect on the economy.

Our country Nigeria is still in the “dark” age because they have failed to appreciate and fully embrace communication in its fullness. The sole telephone line subscriber (NITEL) in Nigeria today had failed to provide enough lines for its citizenry and the available ones are not distributed equally so that every citizen will have a share of the “essential commodity”.
