ABSTRACT
This research work is focused on automated billing system for pharmaceuticals, a case study of Gift alive Pharmacy Ikot Ekpene. The study was necessary because most pharmacies do not have an automated system to enable them keep proper record of the billing and inventory record of the stock of drugs in the pharmacy. In addition, there is no system to effectively manage the record of sales and to automatically reduce stock level as they are being sold. To overcome these problems, an automated system has been developed to enable the management of pharamacies maintain proper record of Billing, carry out sales and also update stock level. The benefit of the system is that it saves time and aids easy presentation of reports when needed. The software development model used is Object Oriented Analysis and Design model and the programming language used is Visual BASIC 6.0

- Introduction
Billing is a financial accounting concept for business organizations to bill their customers for services rendered and the billing system is utilized by management to know the income generated. Pharmacy billing system is used to capture the bill of customers to come up with a total amount to be paid by the customer. The information is saved to a database to enable management or users to retrieve saved billing records (Brightman and Amusdale, 2011).
The service rendered by pharmacy is associated with charges. It is therefore pertinent that accurate billing of the service rendered is properly documented. The application of the computer system to aid business transaction is very significant. This is because the computer system provides features such as storage, computation, easy retrieval of information etc. in addition, the computer system is very fast and accurate as against manual systems of recording and retrieving information. Virtually all organizations are now shifting from their manual systems to computerized systems as a result of the benefits it presents. Health industries are among the league of organization that can make use of the computer system and software solution to manage their billing records it is a sub system of a pharmacy management system (Daniel and Yeates, 2014).
