Abstract
Swiss projects with the aim of preparing for the appropriate disposal of all radioactive wastes are entrusted to NAGRA, an independent cooperative formed in 1972 by all radioactive waste producers. The paper gives an overview of the principal projects (past, present, and future) tackled by NAGRA, i.e. (1) the feasibility project “Gewähr” submitted to the government in 1985, (2) the further evaluation of technical concepts and of siting possibilities for a high-level waste repository, and (3) the implementation of a repository for low/intermediate-level wastes.
