ABSTRACT
It is habitual for software systems to fade out, get outdated and become irrelevant to the supposed users. It is also an established fact that the computer science field is a rapidly growing and evolving one. The positive side of this discovery creates innovative methods of executing tasks. However, on the negative side, existing systems lose their value and functionality. This is the case of inventory systems. Records are kept manually, exposing them to risks such as fire outbreaks and loss of information. Developing a cloud based inventory management system however, is an innovative approach to the solution of the problem. Not only does it prevent documents and resources from the incidence of fire outbreak, it also secures the information from unauthorized access. The cloud-based inventory management system is designed to protect information and save time and effort required to edit the contents, as well as regularize database entries to ensure integrity. Following the waterfall model, the software developed undergoes phases of iterative implementation, evaluation and testing. The testing reveals that the software is adequate and satisfies all state requirements. It is therefore imperative that further researchers and system maintenance engineers continue to update the system in order to maintain its conformity with the recent pace of technological advancement.
