DEVELOPMENT OF AN INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR PAYROLL MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT

This research project is focused on development of an Information System for Payroll Management a case study of B-Link Enterprise Ikot Ekpene. The payroll units of the enterprise encountered enormous challenges in the preparation of pay slips. The problems included errors in computing payroll records, delayed in payment of salaries and inability to instantly retrieve reports concerning payroll information of employees. To overcome these challenges, a payroll application was developed to compute payroll details and to generate pay slips. This information can be saved to database for future retrieval when needed. The system analysis and design methodology used is Waterfall model. The programming language used is Visual BASIC 6.0. Being a database application, it makes sure needed information concerning the payroll records of employees is easily accessible. It is therefore imperative to make use of automated payroll management system. It is recommended that the case study should make use of automated system to manage payroll information of staff, database administrators and computer programmers should be contracted to develop customized payroll applications to overcome the challenges of the manual system
