CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
- Background of the Study
New technologies have resulted in the new deployment of advanced and superior tools to enhance the spread of information in the society.
In consideration of this fact, Hilbert (2007) describes these technologies collectively known as information and communication technologies (ICTs) as a revolution which has penetrated almost all fields of human activity, this transforming economic, political and social life.
Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are used to store, manipulate, distribute, direct and create information and communication therefore technologies have allowed users to participate in a quick changing world in which words and other activities are highly informed by access to different and developing technologies.
Specifically the media constitute one area where information and communication technologies have extended a great influence for example, before now newspapers were produced manually or with type writers.
The use of telephone was adopted by newspaper offices in news gathering and computer has become a useful tool or connection in today’s world in newspaper production as vast amount of information is stored in the system for processing or for the future references.
