ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers’ ICT usage and their job effectiveness in secondary schools in Calabar South Local Government Area, Cross River State. To achieve the purpose of this study, four hypotheses were formulated to direct the study. Literature related to the variables under study was reviewed according to the hypotheses for the study. Survey research design was adopted for this study. A total sample of two hundred (200) respondents were randomly selected for the study. The selection was done through the simple random sampling technique. The questionnaire was used for data collection. Pearson product moment correlation analysis was adopted to test the hypotheses under study. This was because of the nature of the variables involves in the study. The result of the analysis revealed that internet usage, mobile phone usage, computer assisted instruction and hyperlink/multimedia by teachers significantly relate to their job effectiveness in secondary schools. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that teachers usage of ICT facilities enhances teaching effectiveness in secondary school. Recommendations and suggestions for further studies were made.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background to the study
The rapid growth of the global economy and the information based society has pressurized education systems round the world to use ICTs to teach the knowledge and skills they need in the 21st Century (World Bank, 2004). The growth of the ICT sector has challenged teachers to prepare for effective use of the new teaching and learning tools in their teaching profession. (UNESCO, 2002) (Laferreire, Breuleux and Bracewell, 1999) argue that there are significant benefits of using ICT as part of teaching and learning process as long as teachers recognize the relationship between the use of ICT and overall curriculum.
