ABSTRACT
Papaya seed was assessed for its mineral and phytochemical compositions aimed at revealing its nutritive composition and dry weight basis. The analysis showed the presence of Calcium (1.957 ± 0.02), Sodium (0.172 ± 0.01%) Potassium (0.605 ± 0.01%), Magnesium (0.483 ± 0.01%), and Phosphorus (0.150 ± 0.01%) in papaya seed. Heavy metals which include iron (0.831 ± 0.01%), copper (0.527 ± 0.02 mg/100g), Zinc (0.162 ± 0.01mg/100g) and Manganese (0.481 ± 0.01 mg/100g) were also detected. Phytochemicals detected show high values in flavonoids (1.02 ± 0.03%), alkaloids (0.82 ± 0.02%) and saponins (0.93 ± 0.02%).
