ABSTRACT
The topic of this research is the Teachers Motivation and Student Academic Performance and Economic in Secondary Schools in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The general purpose of the study was to investigate teachers motivation and Student Academic performance in Economics in Secondary Schools in Nsit Atai Local Government Area. To achieve the purpose of the study teacher motivation was broken into fair sub-variable namely regular payment of salary, promotion of teacher, provision for staff development, recognition of teachers performance. Four hypothesis were formulated to quid the study. The sampling technique use in selecting the sample size and school was simple random sampling technique and the study sample was made up of (200) hundred teachers out of which one hundred and twenty (120) were male while eighty (80) were female research instrument title teacher Motivation and Student Academic Performance, (TMSAPQ) was used for the data collection. Data were analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation statistic and Survey research design was adopted for the study. Test retest method at reliability were administer to the respondent outside the sampling school. In course of the study, the research found out that there is a significant influence of regular payment of teacher salary, promotion of teacher, provision of teachers development and teacher recognition on student academic performance. From the finding, recommendation among which teachers in the study area should be given award and incentive packages for outracing performance to support their classroom management and lesson delivery thereby continuous performance.
